Five ways to keep your employees healthy and engaged this winter

It’s official, winter is here. And while the number of Covid cases are on the decline, the flu and coughs and colds are on the rise. So, what are some things businesses can do to keep to keep their teams healthy and engaged over the colder months?

1.       Take a Break

Ensuring your people are having regular holidays and not getting too run down is a great way to keep people healthy and motivated. With many of us having been working from home over the last few months, it’s even more important that we’re taking a break to recharge. It’s also a great way to keep annual leave balances in check and reduce your leave liability. School holidays aren’t far away!

2.       Get the Jab

With Covid still prevalent in the community, health experts are strongly recommending people get the flu jab this year. Why not make it easier for your people by having a supplier come to your workplace and offer free flu jabs? Alternatively if you’ve got a number of remote workers, you can offer flu vouchers which can be redeemed at a local doctors or pharmacy.

3.       Get Active

Grab your brolly, throw on a jacket and get out for a brisk walk at lunchtime! It’s a great way to not only warm up but also to get some fresh air and recharge during your working day. Team walks or walking one on one meeting are a great way to connect together.

4.       Eat Well Together

Shared lunches or morning teas are a great way to connect when you’re in the office so why not eat healthy! Organise a soup day, provide some fresh fruit in the lunch room or organise a bake off! After all, there’s nothing like a bit of ‘healthy’ competition!

5.       Inject some fun!

Chase away the winter blues by injecting some fun at work. Organise a slipper day or Onesie day and have prizes for the best team/ individual. It will encourage people to come into the office, connect and have some fun!
