Five tips on how you can celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup in your Organisation
The Women’s FIFA World Cup is here!
This Thursday, 20 July, will be the first ever Women’s World Cup hosted by joint nations New Zealand and Australia and it will be the biggest with a total of 32 teams participating!
The USA are the defending champions, and they will be looking to be the first team to win the Women’s World Cup three times in a row, but there are is some strong opposition this year so it is really going to be a fantastic competition!
We are a bit football mad in our families at ColourHR and are excited to see the biggest sporting event in the world hit our shores here in NZ. We really encourage everyone to get behind and support these amazing wahine like we did for the Rugby World Cup last year where we broke a few records!
As an organisation there are a number of things you can do to get behind this event and show your support for women’s sport in NZ. Here are our top 5 ideas:
1. Organise a sweepstake
For a small contribution of $2 -$5 people can get behind the action and support their drawn country. You can organise some fun prizes for not only 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, but mix it up by handing out prizes for the individual with the highest goals or the player who wins the most player of the day awards.
2. Come together over food
Organise a BBQ or get a food truck to come in at lunch time and watch one of the games live. The USA v Netherlands on 27 July at 1pm will be one to watch!
3. Treasure hunt
Organise a treasure hunt around the work place where all members can participate and submit their answers for some prizes. The prizes could include tickets to see the games in your area or some FIFA merchandise.
4. Recognition and reward
A great way to show appreciation to your team or individual contributors is to provide some tickets to see the games. For some families the price of the tickets are a barrier, but as an organisation this is an opportunity to say thank you for their hard work and show your appreciation.
5. Spot prizes
Everyone loves a spot prize. Organise some spot prizes that can be handed out to individuals who display your company values or go over and above in their roles.
Whatever you do to support this sporting spectacular, we hope you and your organisation enjoy and get behind these amazing wahine!
